We are pleased to announce that HRJust, together with Civil Rights Defenders, Stockholm University, and University of Gothenburg will co-organise the Fifth Annual Nordic Rule of Law Forum.
This year’s theme, ’Rights on the Move: Rule of Law in an Era of Restrictive Migration Policies’, invites reflection on how migration governance across Europe, particularly in the Nordic region, is reshaping the meaning and practice of rights.
Through keynote talks, expert panels, and lived testimonies, the Forum will explore how human rights justifications are used both to protect and to constrain, and how civil society, scholars, and practitioners can respond when legal safeguards are under strain.
The 2025 Forum will take place at Scandic Continental Hotel, Stockholm, and features contributions from the EU Commission–funded Horizon project HRJust, examining how human rights justifications are used to legitimise restrictive migration policies. The day concludes with a special film screening where youth from Hammarkullen highlight the lived impact of the laws and proposed laws from the past years, on young people’s everyday lives. Together, we aim to deepen the understanding of how law is lived, challenged, and defended when rights are at stake.
